Movies this weekend include 12 new releases both in limited release and streaming and include There are 12 other movies coming out on the same date, including IF an imaginary world of “friends” , The Strangers: Chapter 1 the first in a chilling horror series, The American 2024 based on a true story of ballet and Back to Black the story of Amy Winehouse. Here are my two picks this weekend:

IF

From writer and director John Krasinski, IF is about a girl who discovers that she can see everyone’s imaginary friends — and what she does with that superpower - IF stars Ryan Reynolds, John Krasinski,  and the voices of Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Louis Gossett Jr. and Steve Carell alongside Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, Blake Lively, Vince Vaughn and many more as the wonderfully unique characters that reflect the incredible power of a child’s imagination.

The American

Based on a true story, The American follows one of the select few Americans, Joy Womack (Talia Ryder), to be admitted into the prestigious, but punishing, Russian Bolshoi Ballet School, where she is tutored by the vaunted Tatiyana Volkova (Diane Kruger). As a Limited release, The American will only be shown in select movie theaters across major markets.
